Career Counselling

You may find that your career path has become difficult — if not impossible — to travel. To make matters even more challenging, this lack of satisfaction and fulfillment at work may be triggering problems in other important areas of life, including your relationships, health and finances.

Through career counselling, my goal is to help you identify a career path that suits you the best, so that you can enjoy optimal work-related satisfaction and self-expression. Together we will build strong, practical coping strategies that inspire you to re-energize your career strengths, discover your underdeveloped talents, and identify the best and most rewarding way to make a professional contribution: either in your current job or field, or perhaps in another area.

Our career counselling sessions will be inspiring, uplifting, progressive and completely confidential. Indeed, many of the obstacles on the path to career fulfillment are deeply personal and highly emotional, and you will feel safe and secure in sharing your thoughts and feelings.

In addition to our meaningful and valuable counselling sessions, I will also guide you through career assessments, which have been proven to highlight key aspects that determine career happiness and success, such as your personality, values, interests, strengths and talents. The discoveries we make through these assessments will provide us with many areas to explore. Discovering or being reminded of your strengths and talents is a great way to boost your confidence and self-esteem!

It is also important to note that our work together will be personalized around your unique needs. I refuse to take a generic “one-size-fits-all” approach, because that is simply not in your best interest.

Ultimately, our career counselling sessions will help you clarify what you need from your career – and just as valuably, what you do not — so that you can take smart, strategic steps that move you towards fulfillment and success at work…and in life!

My Career Counselling Program

My career counselling program is based on three steps: an initial consultation, using career and psychological assessments, and personal one-on-one sessions.

  • Step 1: Initial Consultation

During our initial consultation, we will explore your aspirations, and develop an inventory of your work experience, your academic background, and your current employment situation. This will help us understand some of the issues or aspects that are supporting your career aims, and also help is begin identifying some areas that may benefit from additional development. During our initial consultation, you will also be encouraged to ask me questions about our work together, including what steps we will take, and how we will measure progress and success.

  • Step 2: Using Career and Psychological Assessments

Next, I will guide you through some interesting and insightful career and psychological assessments. These tools have been proven to help illuminate aspects of your unique personality that are either not being used to your best advantage, or in some cases, may be dormant and therefore not being developed. Despite the word “assessment,” please be assured that these tools are fun and there is no right or wrong answer. The goal is simply to help you identify what you need to be happy and successful at work, and ultimately, in life.

  • Step 3: Personal One-on-One Sessions

Then, we will work together through a series of progressive one-on-one sessions. I will analyze and discuss with you the results from your assessments, and provide you with an in-depth interpretation and integration of your results and what they mean. During these sessions — which will typically involve additional career assessments and exercises — we will also put together strategies that help you set clear career goals and move toward them. As noted earlier, these goals may relate to your current job type or field, or it may involve something new and exciting!

Either way, we will create practical action steps that help you get from where you are now, to where you want to be in the near future. The process is supportive and uplifting, and most importantly, it’s 100% personalized around your career needs and aspirations.
